Vero Beach, FLA (November 2, 2017) — Karen Davis, a Senior Director of Alvarez and Marsal, a national leader in healthcare consulting, was selected today to be Interim President and CEO of Indian River Medical Center by the IRMC Board of Directors.
Davis will take the helm of IRMC from Jeffrey Susi, who is retiring from the CEO role on December 31 after nearly two decades of distinguished service.
“We are very fortunate to have someone of Karen’s stature as our Interim CEO,” said Dr. Wayne Hockmeyer, Chairman of the IRMC Board. “Karen has wide experience as a hospital chief executive and a deep understanding of hospital operations.”
She is currently a Senior Director of Alvarez & Marsal, a national leader in healthcare consulting. Davis has also been CEO of Metro West Hospital and has been Interim CEO at other acute care hospitals, as well as serving as President and COO of the Imaging Division of HealthSouth. Davis has a Master in Health Administration and a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing.
Davis was selected after a very careful and thoughtful search by a nine-member search committee that included four members of the IRMC Board of Directors, two trustees of the Indian River County Hospital District, the Chief and Vice Chief of Staff for IRMC’s Medical Executive Committee, and the Chairman of the IRMC Foundation Board.
“Everyone associated with Indian River Medical Center appreciates the service and distinguished tenure of Jeff Susi,” Hockmeyer said. “He has led the transformation of IRMC from a community hospital to full-service medical center with more than 300 affiliated physicians representing 41 specialties.”
Some of the improvements under Susi’s tenure include:
“We are extremely grateful for Jeff’s nearly two decades of service, and very much appreciate that he is leaving IRMC in a strong position as we move forward to assure the future of high-quality healthcare in Indian River County by selecting a partner,” Hockmeyer said. “We ask the community to join us in welcoming Karen to IRMC,” he added.
