Helpful Information

Please review the following information to help you have the best possible experience before, during and after your procedure.

Pre-Admission Testing

If your physician requires pre-admission testing, Indian River Medical Center provides services for lab, electrocardiogram (EKG) and X-ray. The Pre-Admission Department will contact you to arrange an appointment. If you have any questions, please call (772) 567-4311, ext. 2135. For pre-admission testing, please arrive 30 minutes prior to your appointment time to register. Parking for pre-admission testing is located on the south side of the hospital using the Patient Pavilion Entrance. The map on the back of the folder will guide you.

Please bring

  • Insurance card

  • Completed registration forms

  • Co-payment, if necessary

  • Photo ID card or driver’s license

After registration, you will be escorted to your appropriate procedural area.

Pre-Admission Registration

Please arrive 30 minutes prior to your Pre-Admission registration time. If your procedure does not require pre-admission testing, you will be informed which of the hospital entrances to use.

Entrance 1 – Patient Pavilion Entrance next to the Emergency Room-is used for preoperative screening, outpatient procedures such as colonoscopies, cardiac catheterization and radiologic procedures.

Entrance 2 – Surgical Services Entrance on the side of 37th Street-is used for surgical procedures, unless otherwise specified.

Entrance 3 – Scully Endoscopy Center is used for outpatient endoscopy and special procedures.

Registration forms are located on the hospital’s website at IndianRiverMedicalCenter.com. We recommend you complete the registration paperwork in the convenience of your own home.

Highlights

The following items are very important.

Please read them carefully. If you do not follow them, your procedure may be canceled or delayed.

  • If you are taking herbal supplements, stop two weeks prior to surgery.
  • If you are taking blood thinners, such as Coumadin, aspirin, ibuprofen or other antifl ammatory drugs (NSAIDS), you need to discuss with your physician and primary care provider if or when you need to stop taking these medications prior to surgery.
  • If you develop flu-like symptoms, consult your physician immediately.
  • If you have a history of mitral valve prolapse, murmur or cardiac diseases, please inform your nurse and physician.
  • If you must cancel your surgery, please call your physician’s office immediately.
  • If you have billing inquires prior to your procedure, please call (772) 563-4774.
  • Please make transportation arrangements to return home. YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO DRIVE YOURSELF HOME.
